Power shortages caused by the reactor incident in Fukushima has subsequently raised a big concern in energy consumption issue all over Japan. In my lab, we are also thinking about this issue. What if there is a place for people in the town to share the usage of energy in their daily life activities, can this change in lifestyle save the world? (well, at least in energy consumption aspect) Based on that idea, we proposed a big residential complex in a shape of hollow cube to be place over a high density business area. Aside from sharing facilities from different programs, we also aim to balance the energy usage between the activities in day time and night time.
